Kennedy's First Haircut

Yesterday I told Kennedy that I was going to get my haircut. She said, "I want to get my haircut too!" We made her an appointment at Cookie Cutters and told her that she had to wait until I got back. As soon as I walked in the door after my cut, she came running down the stairs saying, "Now it's my turn! I'm so excited! I'm going to the beauty spa!" (I went to the spa earlier this week so that and Fancy Nancy must have given her that idea.) At the salon she got to go down the slide, choose a car to sit in (the one with the horn that she honked non-stop), a movie to watch (baby einstein) and when she was finished she got a balloon and a sucker! It was a good experience, but we decided not to keep a lock of her hair. Instead we have these great pictures to remember the event. Here are the before and after shots:

Hanging out at home

The first stage of my maternity leave is coming to an end. I go back to work part time tomorrow. All I can say is that I'm very sad about it. It's been wonderful spending this time with Macy. She is an amazing baby! Even though I'll really  miss being at home, I know she will be in good hands with her pampie and grandma Sue. And I will still get to spend plenty of time with both of my girls!

Ice Cream

It's been feeling like summer! We walked over to Woody's for our first ice cream cone of the season - and Kennedy's first cone ever. She seemed to enjoy it, but even the baby cone was too big for her. She doesn't seem to have her mama's sweet tooth.

Flight of the Conchords

Little late getting this up... Jake and I had another date night! We took the girls to grammie and grampie's house and then went downtown to have dinner at Red Rock and to see Flight of the Conchords in concert. If you don't know these guys, they are New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo a cappella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo and stars of the HBO tv series. Check them out on youtube - Jake's favorite is "business time" and I like "foux da fa fa". The show was very entertaining, but the opening act (Dave from the show) was only so-so. We picked Macy up after it was over and Kennedy had a sleep over. It was a fun night for everyone!

Happy Birthday Eliza and Mama

Saturday we went to a birthday party for Eliza (and for me too since we share the same birth date). We had a great BBQ lunch and made tie dye tee shirts. What a great way to celebrate.

Kennedy got this fancy purse and pair of sunglasses as a party favor. She loves being fancy!

Here are our finished shirts. Thanks Burtons for a great party!

Entertaining the troops

We tried Macy in the bouncy chair for the first time, and she likes it! At least for about 10 minutes at a time. The vibrations and music seem to keep her pretty happy. That gives us some extra time to do things like eat dinner or play with Kennedy. Here she is making some "beans" with play dough.

Mother's Day

Here are some photos from celebrating with all the moms. The highlights from the day include Kennedy giving me a mani-pedi. She insisted on "I paint your toenails mama!" We had a very nice brunch at the Cottonwood Club with my family. Lots of delicious things to eat! Later we had the Nelsons over for chicken sandwiches and a trip to the farm. Thanks to our moms for all that they do for us. Grammie and Grandma Sue we love you both very much. And I love being a mom more than I could ever have imagined. Thanks Kennedy for the beautiful painted picture frame and photo of you doing a job at school!
